Ma'am, I'd like to see your ID.....

It was a spring day in May of 2019 when I walked in Chipotle and proudly flashed my educator badge and was given a FREE burrito. It was teacher day and they were including homeschool moms! And the guac too! THE GUAC WAS FREE!

Want to know one of the best homeschool secrets? Educator Discounts! Today, I'm going to share with you what they are and the best places to get them!

"But, wait! I'm not a real teacher!" Yes you are friend! And the good news is most establishments that offer teacher/educator discounts recognize you as one especially with more families beginning to homeschool!

  1. Make your ID.

This is SUPER simple. You can use a site like www.IDCreator.com or www.EasyIDCard.com

2. Print and Laminate

3. Enjoy the discounts!

Side note: If you joined www.HSLDA.org, you can also print out their ID and use that!

Here are some of my favorites:

Apple Education Store- 10% discount on computers and tablets

Half Price Books- 10% off for educators

Jo-Anne Fabrics- 15% off

National Geographic- Free resources

PBS- Free Educational resources for the classroom

Legoland- Do you live in CA or FL? Enjoy FREE admission!

Pizza Hut Book Program - Free Pizza for readers

FedEx Office Store: Sign up for the FedEx Academic Edge program and get 15% off all kinds of stuff like presentation materials, brochures, flyers, cards, forms, and memos.

Petco- Apply for a grant to bring animals into your classroom

Marriott Hotels- Teacher rates for select locations

Also, check local Facebook events and groups. Go to "events" in your area and type "Homeschool"- you'll be excited to see what pops up! Last year we got a 2 night stay at Great Wolf Lodge in a 6 person suite for $89/night. It was a Tuesday-Thursday and very last minute but we got a complimentary breakfast for our family of 5 and 2 full days at the water park complimentary plus really awesome hotel accommodations! We had the time of our lives!

Think of local attractions in your area. I live in the DFW area so we have been to "Homeschool days" (either FREE or at a deep discount) at:

-The US Mint

-The Fort Worth Zoo

-The Perot Museum

-Six Flags

- The Sea Life Aquarium

-LegoLand

-Deeply discounted tickets to see broadway plays on "school days"

Many local museum's offer free entrance for educators- just check their website!

Also, it NEVER hurts to ask. It's common at checkout that I'll ask, "Do you offer and educator's discount?" Worst case- they say no! Doesn't hurt to ask!
